Body and protheses

17th April 2026

Webconference only

From 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Seventh interdisciplinary research seminar 2RSHS.

This session is organised by Yann Ferguson (Inria), Guillaume Morel (Sorbonne University UPMC) and Caroline Moricot (Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne). Charly Pécoste and David Rodriguez (Icam Toulouse) both organise and moderate the session, which takes place within the framework of the interdisciplinary subject matter Acculturation – Methodology.

This seventh session explores the theme of the body and prostheses, focusing on the challenges of modeling human movement for the design of robotic prosthetic devices. Through two presentations at the intersection of Computer Science and the Humanities and Social Sciences, this session will address the following questions: How do the various disciplines involved in prosthesis design model the body and human movement? What are the ethical and epistemological implications of these models? How can we conceive of a “human gesture”?

  • 1st speech: “A human gesture”? Environment and diversity of body models in a multidisciplinary design project
Jeanne-Martine Robert: She is a researcher in anthropology and ergonomics at the S2HEP laboratory of University of Lyon 1. Her research focuses primarily on environments, life and death, experience, and the body. She specializes in issues related to design project management, technology, multidisciplinarity, health, and work.
  • 2nd speech: “Innovating in prosthesis inspection: acculturation, observations, and model change
Nathanaël Jarrassé: He is a CNRS research director at ISIR of Sorbonne University in Paris. Specialist in human-robot physical interaction, and rehabilitation and assistance robotics, his research focuses on the development of technologies for disability, human motor control, but also the appropriation of technical devices and the relationships between technology and society.

To doctoral students: it is possible to validate training credits, subject to the approval of your Doctoral School. To do so, simply send a training certificate from your Doctoral School to 2rshs@sciencesconf.org and attend the seminar to complete the attendance questionnaire distributed during the session. The completed form will then be returned to you by email.

The entire session is recorded (including discussions).
The replays will then be freely available on the 2RSHS network website: https://2rshs.sciencesconf.org/?lang=fr and on PEPR O2R YouTube channel
