“Pycnandra/Ce qui tient”

The Maison des Humanités Potentielles is delighted to support the play “Pycnandra/Ce qui tient“, which will be performed at the University of Avignon on 15 July at 5 pm.

This arts and sciences show has been developing since 2010 as part of the series entitled ‘binôme – the poet and the scientist’. A researcher becomes the subject of study for a playwright, who writes a half-hour play loosely based on their encounter. The result is moving, often funny, and offers us an unusual perspective on science and the people who practise it.

The play “Pycnandra/Ce qui tient” stems from a collaboration between Aurore Jacob, a writer, and Quentin Peyron, a researcher in soft robotics working on the AS1 project.

The story behind deformable robotics and eco-design is as follows:

When Lixiam and Percor venture deep into the Zone, they do not expect to find any life there. Above all, they do not expect to make a discovery that could save humanity. But can we take possession of something that is living without destroying it at the same time?

The play will be staged again in Paris at the Théâtre La Reine Blanche during the week of 8 March 2027.
